Scenedesmus quadricauda is a green freshwater alga, typically 4 cells with a spine at each corner. It is quick and easy to grow, and ideal for use in many experiments including in the algae ball experiment for studying photosynthesis.
Use for experiments involving:
• Photosynthesis
• Eutrophication
• Pollution
How to care: On arrival remove lid to allow air into the jar. Cultures will last for up to a week in the jar supplied. Should they be needed after this then they should be cultured as shown below:
Growth medium: Alga-Gro Freshwater
Temperature: 22°C
Light requirement: High
This non-motile alga requires agitation to grow successfully in the lab, we recommend an aquarium air pump, or daily swirling.
Supplied in 30 mL tubes.
