Edexcel A CP13: Effects of Temperature on the Development of Organisms

Abstract:

Investigate the effects of temperature on the development of organisms (such as seedling growth rate, and brine shrimp hatch rates).

Hints & Tips:

- Brine shrimp are living creatures and care needs to be taken when handling them. Ensure they are not left in a too hot or too cold environment and advise students to choose temperature ranges with their safety in mind.

- You can de-chlorinate water by leaving it to stand in the sun for a couple of days before using it in the practical, or by adding a small amount of ascorbic acid (vitamin C) to the water before use (10 mg per L).
