Abstract:

A study into the effect of Light intensity on the bubble production rate of Elodea.

Hints & Tips:

- Unless the lamp is LED you should put a heat sink between the apparatus and the lamp to prevent the solution from heating up (thus having a temperature effect as well as a light effect on the practical).

- Egeria densa should be used instead of elodea (now banned), other alternates include hornwort and red cabomba.

- If the plant doesn’t produce bubbles, try removing the end of the stem (do this under the water).

- You should use a full spectrum (plant) lamp for maximum effect.
