Investigate membrane structure, including the effect of alcohol concentration or temperature on membrane permeability.

Hints & Tips:

- Fresh raw beetroot should be used (not prepacked or frozen or in vinegar).

- Water baths at temperatures above 50 °C may scald. Take care when removing lids to allow steam to escape away from the face or body.

- You can use the chipper to provide all the beetroot cylinders to the class at once.
