Sonometer Pickup

This Sonometer Pickup contains a single electric guitar string, with 4 mm connections. When placed under a moving steel wire, such as on Sonometer, an emf is induced in the pickup which can be displayed on an oscilloscope. Period, frequency and amplitude measurements can then be taken from the oscilloscope screen. This provides an alternative to tuning fork resonance when investigating frequency/ length or frequency/ tension relationships. The unit, constructed in clear acrylic, and measures 80 x 35 x 25 mm.
